About the speakers:

Wilma van Wezenbeek

In August 2011 Wilma van Wezenbeek (1967) became director of the TU Delft Library, where she has been employed since 2006. Before joining the world of libraries, Wilma has held a career in scientific publishing for over 12 years and has a severe interest in scientific Communication. From 1 January 2018 she also became Open Access Project Leader at the VSNU. In recent years Wilma has spearheaded national and international efforts to promote open access and open science. In the Fall of 2016, she was commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science to lead the project team that wrote the National Open Science Plan (released in February 2017).

Kamran Naim

Kamran Naim is Director of Partnerships and Initiatives for the non-profit publisher Annual Reviews, Executive Director of the Network for Information and Digital Access, and is also a Doctoral Researcher and Educator at Stanford University. His interests span the breadth of scholarly publishing - from issues relating to business model innovation, usability of research information, as well as information literacy. He has worked extensively in the developing world - working to implement technical solutions to support capacity building through broader access and visibility of research. At Annual Reviews he works to advance the organization’s mission to synthesize and integrate knowledge for the progress of science and the benefit of society through a broad range of initiatives.

Kathleen Shearer

Kathleen Shearer is the Executive Director of the Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR), an international association of over 140 institutions worldwide from 40 countries on all 6 continents representing libraries, universities, research institutions, government funders and others. COAR works towards greater alignment and interoperability of repositories and repository networks and is promoting a model for scholarly communications based on a foundation of open access repositories, with value added services such as peer review layered on top. Shearer is also a consultant for several other organizations. She is a research associate with the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) and a strategic consultant with the US-based Association of Research Libraries (ARL).
